Lyft is looking for an experienced and values driven professional to join our People Business Partner (HRBP) team with a focus on Employee Relations to serve our Operations team.  As an Associate People Business Partner with a primary focus on Employee Relations, you will guide Lyft’s success by bringing your knowledge and expertise to Lyft’s People team and help us maintain our culture as we grow. Reporting to the People Business Partner - Operations for the West Region (based in San Francisco), you will tackle field-based investigations and provide thoughtful partnership to the centralized Employee Relations team. You will have the ability to make sound judgment calls and contribute to maintaining a culture of high integrity.  The ideal candidate has experience in fast-paced, dynamic environments and can help scale/manage our rapid growth. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and lead a wide range of workplace investigations within the Operations function related to employee claims and advise leaders and HR Business Partners
  • Provide counsel and coaching to managers and team members at an individual level, and by developing training offerings that can scale
  • Be a true expert by understanding essential trends in employee relations and improving across the line of business
  • Interpret policies, incorporating knowledge of state and federal employment laws. (i.e. ADA, FMLA, EEO) and practice and provide recommendations to resolve complex employee relations issues
  • Partner with team members and managers to maintain a positive work environment, which encourages the full use of diverse talents and abilities; act as an employee advocate; help guide division projects
  • Partner with centralized Employee Relations function and act as a bridge with the HR Business Partner team
  • Assure the integrity of corrective action/investigation records and files
  • Some travel required

Experience:

  • 4+ years of applicable experience; experience in HR or HR-related working experience; with demonstrated experience in employee relations and/or performance management
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar experience required
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws including: FMLA, ADA, FLSA, NLRB, Title VII
  • Experience tracking, prioritizing, and driving multiple concurrent projects
  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information
  • Independent, organized, and passionate about detail
  • A team player. Excellent at building relationships within your team and across teams
  • A motivated and active learner. If you don’t understand something, you figure out a way to learn about it, and you aren’t afraid to ask when you need help
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to think critically and anticipate issues before they arise, and proactively suggest big-picture solutions
