Lyft Bikes and Scooters is looking for an outstanding Community Affairs Specialist to help grow the Bay Wheels bikeshare system through extensive community outreach in the San Francisco/Bay Area. 

Reporting to the Community Affairs Manager, the Community Affairs Specialist is a member of a small but dynamic team, facilitating a growing, community-supported, and highly utilized Bay Wheels bike system.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the internal Lyft teams, City partners, local advocates, and consultants to plan and execute community outreach activities that a) ensure residents and business owners have a chance to give input into the station siting for Bay Wheels, b) make neighbors aware of bike share station locations when they are about to deployed c) encourage trial and ridership of bike share in neighborhoods after station deployments
  • Develop and execute a region-wide community engagement plan for bikeshare and scootershare
  • Organize, promote and represent Bay Wheels in a positive way at community meetings and public events, either independently or with a team
  • Conduct door-to-door in person outreach in neighborhoods, using languages and formats appropriate to the target audience
  • Assist in creating, editing and curating a portfolio of collateral materials (visuals, talking points, presentations) to be used for outreach
  • Respond to constituent emails and phone calls in a timely manner
  • Prepare materials and represent Lyft a Public Hearings
  • Document community engagement activities and maintain records of conversations, materials distributed, events held, and participation
  • Collaborate with the Community Affairs Manager, City and local advocates to develop community programs to build equity into the Bay Wheels program.
  • Attend and support at press and public engagement events as needed.
  • Support marketing, membership and sponsorship efforts

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years experience with community outreach, community planning and/or project management
  • Experience recruiting and remotely managing supporters with a vast array of backgrounds
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility with ever-changing team priorities
  • An understanding of political messaging and political process
  • Passionate commitment to the Lyft community and the sharing economy
  • Relationships with Bay Area communities and city agencies a plus
  • Charismatic in-person presence and public speaking ability
  • This position may require hours which exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week.
  • Fluency or proficiency in additional languages, especially Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) and/or Spanish (preferred)
