Lyft is hiring an outstanding Counsel to join our expanding Legal team dedicated to the Bikes & Scooters business. You will partner with and provide legal guidance to departments such as Supply Chain, Government Relations, Operations, Product, Marketing, Brand and Business Development on initiatives that influence all aspects of the business. The legal issues you’ll encounter are cutting edge and always evolving so it will be up to you to continuously assess and advise using a creative and pragmatic approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice to a high growth unit
  • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including supply and manufacturing, design, consulting, logistics and services agreements
  • Support the business strategy and government relations teams in drafting and negotiating public-private partnership agreements for operation of Lyft's micromobility offerings
  • Review and advise on promotional and marketing communications
  • Work closely with business teams to ensure agreements support the teams’ business objectives and improve and create new form agreements and processes that help us scale with a consistent but locally relevant approach

Experience:

  • Qualified attorney and Member of the New York Bar (in good standing) or eligible to register as New York Registered In-House Counsel
  • 5+ years of experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
  • Passionate about improving urban mobility and transportation
  • Experience working in retail and operations-heavy business a plus
  • Experience with state and local regulations or or micromobility business models and laws a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong track record of working with a wide range of commercial agreements, without significant supervision 
  • Ability to think quickly on your feet, convey grace under pressure, and simultaneously manage workloads, multiple client demands and shifting priorities
  • Ability to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace
  • Willing and eager to take on new areas of law or responsibility where no matter is above or beneath you
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving workplace with a commitment to getting things done
