Trustable and creative payment processing powers Lyft marketplace for outstanding transportation experiences. We are looking for experienced Software Engineering Managers to join our team and create improvements at scale in a collaborative environment - helping us scale systems that deal with real-time pay processing, creative FinTech solutions and super reliability in the payments area.

The Pay Platform team aims to create a trustworthy and malleable payment platform, provide services and easy to use API for Lyft teams to create innovative solutions and products. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team. You will lead a group of experienced engineers, and collaborate with your diverse counterparts to provide systems and products. Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of accomplished engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems
  • Mentor and guide the development of your team members. Help develop their careers and assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles, and goals
  • Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other
  • Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize the strengths and contributions of your team members
  • Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges in your organization
  • Maintain a balance between building sustainable, visible projects and shipping things quickly
  • Instill a spirit of improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes
  • Collaborate with the Lyft recruiting team to hire priority candidates from diverse backgrounds
  • Create a large-scale pay processing engine
  • Lead the latest FinTech solutions to increase growth
  • Be the point person for essential components in payment processing system

Experience:

  • Bachelors, Masters in Computer Science or at least 7 years of industry experience building and shipping software
  • 3+ years of experience with leading software engineering teams through tough problems, growing people and shipping software
  • Expertise in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java, C++, or Python)
  • Experience with large-scale distributed storage and database systems (NOSQL - bigtable, Spanner or other NoSQL data stores, kubernetes)
  • Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design
  • Experience solving complex problems and leading a team in creating creative solutions
  • Payments - Familiarity with payments and banking industry
  • Core Infrastructure - Experience with developing large scalable distributed systems
  • Familiarity with service-oriented architecture
