We are looking for a seasoned leader who is both an operator and strategist with experience building and scaling businesses and operational teams in the field, driving real-world interactions with customers across multiple markets and regions. Additionally, you will have been influential scaling through a period of true growth, growing operational teams based on business needs.

A strong developer of people, you will have a non-stop builder mentality focused on motivating teams and individuals with opportunities to lead. You will also be known for fostering and strengthening relationships with remote teams and cross-functional partners across locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Entrepreneur:
    • Exhibit the drive to grow revenue and profitability by guiding in-market operations to help Lyft achieve its overall ridesharing growth goals in a highly competitive industry
    • Build new lines of business that will improve urban transportation by blending state-of-the-art technologies with advanced operational excellence practices: expanded segments for rideshare, Driver Services, Vehicle Services, Rentals and fleet management
    • Identify new ways to add additional value for Lyft and its partners within existing opportunities
    • Take initiative to contribute to and chase down multiple, sometimes unique, opportunities or deals to deliver a positive impact on the business
    • Build the localized strategy for Lyft in the market, combining corporate capabilities to meet unique local and regional needs and opportunities
  • Leader:
    • Lead local team from the front, alongside our teams and the customer, leveraging facts as the primary indicator of truth
    • Motivate and inspire the local team (operations, marketing, and business development) to contribute towards achieving our strategy
    • Act as an advocate for team and team’s needs, business health, and other issues that deserve attention
    • Set expectations and commits to plans, goals, deliverables with team members and partners
  • Navigator:
    • Influence peers and stakeholders in functions such as Growth, Product, Finance, Marketing, Enterprise, etc. by surfacing issues and suggesting solutions
    • Utilize influencing skills with a diverse set of Lyft leaders and stakeholders to effectively advocate for market needs while aligning to company-wide value programs and find the best way to support technology to provide the best experience at the lowest cost
  • Ambassador: 
    • Establish what the market and competitive landscape looks like now and in the future
    • Act as company spokesperson in interviews with key media and work with our PR organization and external agencies
    • Build and nurture relationships with government officials and driver/rider local community, acting as both the advocate and expert for SFO
    • Engage with drivers to maintain a strong community in the local market acting as the face of Lyft and increase NPS of our drivers, riders, and employees

Experience:

  • 10+ years of senior strategic operating experience in a fast-growth environment 
  • Experienced in building, leading, and resourcing large-scale teams in the field, and committed to employee engagement, coaching, and career development of team members
  • Personal passion for community; motivated to inspire others by a deep connection to Lyft’s mission and core values
  • Experience being highly collaborative with cross-functional stakeholders and manage large scale projects
  • Comfortable leading within matrixed organizations, pulling in thought leaders from both internal and external sources to foster expertise for their teams
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels, internally and externally
  • Entrepreneurial spirit - You think outside of the box and are resourceful and fiscally responsible
  • Operational and data-driven mindset, passionate about eliminating waste and creating efficiencies 
  • Experience working in local San Francisco government or with local/provincial regulators is strongly desired
