As a Hardware Technician on the LBS Hardware team, you use your creative problem solving skills in all phases of the engineering process from design to deployment. You will design and build test fixtures, execute tests, and analyze the results to validate components and subsystems of the complete hardware system design. You will also work with mechanical engineers to root cause and troubleshoot designs that fail tests. You will work with engineers to implement bug prevention strategies, design for testability, and other quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Run machine tools, create prototypes using welding and fabrication knowledge
  • Design prototype test hardware, circuitry and fixtures. Be able to run standard lab testing equipment such as Instron, thermal chambers, etc. 
  • Work with the mechanical engineering team providing testing requirements for the aforementioned equipment. 
  • Track and document detailed test reports to be shared with engineering team.
  • Working independently to quickly overcome challenges without supervision.

Experience:

  • BA/BS or 3 years of experience as a hardware technician or similar in lieu of a degree
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn
  • Knowledge of machine tools and machine shop equipment
  • Experience building or working on bicycles and scooters 
  • Experience working engineering teams
  • Knowledge of lab equipment for testing and debugging, e.g oscilloscopes, multimeters, optical inspection equipment. 
  • Experience making and following SOPs in either MS suite or Gdocs. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional technical teams
  • Experience with Solidworks, Inventor or another Enterprise CAD software a plus.
