Lyft is looking for an experienced writer to support our Communications Team and Executive Office. The role will start as a special assignment for the Office of the President and Co-Founder to refresh our companywide writing standards, and then transition to the Communications team to serve as lead writer.

Responsibilities:

  • Refresh companywide writing standards and make recommendations for training and talent
  • Serve as the lead writer and/or editor for Lyft’s highest-stakes internal and external communications: executive speeches, thought leadership pieces, op-eds, blog posts, media statements, and internal announcements
  • Leverage internal relationships to translate business and policy jargon into clear, compelling stories that educate and inspire our key audiences: drivers, riders, partners, opinion leaders, policymakers, and our own team members
  • Mentor other Lyft writers and teammates, reviewing tweets, media statements, and blog posts

Experience: 

  • 7+ years of experience in executive communications, journalism and/or speechwriting
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter, independently motivated
  • Obsessive attention to detail (especially grammar)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Comfortable with tight deadlines, often concurrent, for several projects at once
  • Confident with the ambiguity that can come from working with many teams
  • Special knack for the Lyft voice
