At Lyft, our mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. To do this, we start with our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization.

In order to build the world’s best transportation, we need to understand the physical world -- cities in particular. This is what makes Lyft different from many products: our products don’t just facilitate online interactions, but offline, real-world interactions. In order for every ride to happen on Lyft’s platform, a driver has to successfully rendezvous with a passenger. This ranges from easy (a private ride in a suburb in the middle of the day at a single-family home with a driveway) to incredibly difficult (a shared ride picking up two different passengers outside of Bed Bath and Beyond, each of whom have their hands full, when there’s nowhere to pull over except the bike lane...and you show up on the wrong side of the street.) Without mapping services, these two rides look exactly the same, which leads us to create experiences that are incredibly stressful for both our passengers and our drivers.

By understanding the physical world, we are able to optimally connect riders and drivers, set expectations with both on arrival and drop off times, assist keeping drivers safe on the road and passengers when getting into cars, and power greener forms of transportation such as bikes, scooters and public transit.

Today, Lyft “curates” pickup + drop-off locations for major venues, like airports and sports stadiums. These annotations are not only critical to allow Lyft to comply with local regulations but also to facilitate magical pickup and drop-off experiences. We’re hiring a Venues product manager to 100x scale the impact of our annotations. You’ll fuse the power of data + algorithms with targeted edits by a team of operators to create new, transportation-specific mapping data sets that make Lyft magical across all modes (rideshare, bikes, scooters, transit, etc.) You’ll build a next-gen curation tool to create the data and direct the work of a team of 100+ operators across the US in operations, partnerships, public policy, enterprise to respond to incoming requests from cities, make live events awesome, etc. Finally, you’ll build in-app experiences that take advantage of these data sets.
