Lyft is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Manager of Accounting to join our Controllership team. The ideal candidate must have a talent for fostering teams and building a world class accounting organization that supports rapid growth. This role provides significant growth opportunity as it encompasses day to day controllership duties, as well as focuses on a number of project based initiatives to scale the consolidated financial reporting process. The candidate should expect to leverage current skill sets while also focusing on learning quickly and adding value to the current processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a timely and accurate monthly financial close
  • Oversee general accounting functions, including cash, internally developed software, R&D, certain components of cost of revenue, and payroll accounting
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements with the goal of decreasing days to close, while also improving team efficiency and scalability
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies & SOX compliance in areas of responsibility
  • Ensure Company financial records are maintained in compliance with US GAAP and Company policies
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations and other documents to ensure compliance to US GAAP and Company policies
  • Oversee preparation of and reviewing monthly balance sheet flux analysis in areas of responsibility
  • Support internal and external auditors in the periodic review of the Company financial records
  • Ensure accounting team is properly resourced to accomplish objectives
  • Lead, mentor and develop direct and indirect reports
  • Manage projects and provide ad-hoc information requests, as needed

Experience:

  • BS Accounting and CPA required
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting, including Big 4 and industry experience; public company experience required 
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Ability to lead a team in a dynamic environment, managing multiple and changing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Proven track record of making improvements in all areas of accounting 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in ERP systems (preferably Oracle and NetSuite)
  • Must be a hands-on leader, have a strong work ethic, excel in a fast-paced environment, and be adaptable to changing responsibilities and priorities
