We are looking for an experienced Engineering Director to lead our growing Frontend Engineering team and to help design and implement a modern, responsive web application. This is a hands-on role, for a leader prepared to engage across teams in building exceptional user experiences. Our goal is to provide an industry leading, cross device application to drive the business of baseball and our clients’ businesses. You will partner with business stakeholders and product management to imagine, design, and build intuitive components that support all aspects related to consumer ticketing, which includes ecommerce, identity, profile management, wallet integration, etc. The ideal candidate will be a tenacious and creative problem solver with the ability to quickly prototype solutions.

 

  • Recruit technical talent and build a world-class Software Engineering team
  • Collaboration with CTO, VPoE and Product Leadership to develop engineering roadmap 
  • Lead and motivate by presenting technical and organizational vision and feedback
  • Transform requirements & mockups into designs, estimates and schedules
  • Define components, services & views using modern patterns and frameworks
  • Adopt modern frameworks, libraries, tooling, etc.
  • Deep affinity with various Agile processes and cultivating the Agile growth mentality
  • Evaluate and reimagine current Products, Platforms and Tools, including:
    • Integrate modern, cloud gateways and services
    • Support native wallet & mobile payment integrations

 

Technologies and Experience:

  • 7+ years of applied Frontend Software Engineering
    • Frontend development and management experience with extensive experience with HTTP, CSS, JSON, REST, JavaScript, etc.
    • Test Driven Development using Jest, Karma, Jasmine, etc.
    • Proficiency with frontend frameworks like Angular, React, Vue, etc.
    • Experience with various frontend libraries like Redux, Bootstrap, etc.
    • Bundling / preprocessing applications with Webpack, etc.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills in web/browser technologies
    • Expertise with version control systems, specifically GIT
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams of 5-20 engineers
    • Recruiting, performance management, talent development
    • Agile process, including CI/CD, automated testing and SRE best-practices
    • Continuous improvement through measurement and feedback
    • Conversant in web application security best practices and standards required
    • Conversant in WCAG 2.1 & other web accessibility standards required
  • Key technical domains:
    • JavaScript & TypeScript 
    • Async programming
    • HTML, HTML5, CSS, SASS/LESS
    • API gateways, such as Apigee, AWS API Gateway, etc.
    • CDNs, edge caching, reverse proxy caching, etc.
    • Building & scaling with Node.js
    • Analytics such as Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, etc.
    • Container & orchestrator experience with Docker & Kubernetes
    • Knowledge of NoSQL, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, is a plus
    • Testing with Cypress.js framework a plus
