Job Description

The MongoDB Community team aims to build an amazing and diverse global community where all MongoDB users are empowered and motivated to connect, create, contribute, and collaborate. Community Triage Engineer is a newly created role focusing on engagement, knowledge sharing, and developer experience in public discussion. The Community team is part of Developer Relations in the Engineering org.

In this role you will review and engage in public technical discussion in order to help our community solve their  The Community technical issues, level up their knowledge, share their feedback, and ultimately be successful with MongoDB products and services. You will develop a broad technical understanding of MongoDB’s products and services, apply problem solving and communication skills to diagnose complex issues, liaise with internal engineering & product teams, and take care to provide accurate and referenceable public responses.

Examples of public technical discussion channels include the MongoDB Community Forums, Stack Exchange (multiple sites such as Stack Overflow, DBA Stack Exchange, ServerFault, …), GitHub, and Jira. You will partner with other engineering & product teams at MongoDB to help respond to community discussions and appropriately escalate issues needing more specific expertise or advice. You will also collaborate on reporting of community activity including insights for improving the community experience.

This is an opportunity to build and shape a world class community experience with a very visible personal profile in the MongoDB developer community. You’ll work with a globally distributed team with regional technical team members who can provide advice and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Triage technical discussion in channels monitored by the Community team to determine topics and trends of interest, prioritise discussions needing engagement from MongoDB or community subject matter experts, and identify the appropriate team to respond
  • Act as first responder to answer general technical questions about MongoDB products & services, including community & partner integrations
  • Provide prescriptive technical advice and a welcoming community experience for MongoDB users in public discussion channels
  • Reproduce and troubleshoot reported bugs or usability issues with appropriate escalation to product or engineering teams
  • Escalate high impact issues to internal teams following agreed escalation procedures
  • Proactively recommend actions to reduce commonly recurring questions
  • Collaborate on Community team initiatives and technical projects, which may include tasks such as data analysis, software development, building documentation and training guides, and providing feedback on other team members’ work
  • Represent the Community team at online & in-person user groups and conferences

Requirements

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Software engineering experience within one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Javascript, Node.js, Go, or PHP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with data modelling / schema design (RDBMS, NoSQL or both)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The desire and ability to rapidly learn a wide variety of new technical skills

This role is remote optional until November 1, 2021, we are looking to speak to candidates who plan to be available in Gurugram Office for when we introduce our hybrid model.
