Our aim is to build a data ecosystem that connects everything, turning smart cities into cognitive cities - a data platform that has been designed to turn data into interoperable, high quality data products on a mass scale. Think of a new type of data mesh, the first of its kind, which will enrich the daily lives of citizens, whilst empowering sectors and services.   
 
We’re looking for a Data Modeler who will be working together with our team of Data Engineers, Data Architects and DataOps on the development of a core information backbone for the cognitive city of the future. As a result, you will help us build a flexible, large-scale data platform to facilitate finding, understanding, and publishing data generated by people and devices in the AI-orchestrated metropolis.

What you will be doing

  • Demonstrate good skills in handling relational databases
  • Interpret business requirements to create conceptual data models in greenfield environments
  • Map existing databases and design efficient logical and physical data models
  • Treat the data model as a blueprint, following the progression from conceptual to logical to physical model
  • Design and manage appropriate metadata repositories for greater understanding of data assets
  • Collaborate to define data cleansing rules and quality checks within the data models
  • Define and govern data modelling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development

    • What you will need

  • Own bachelor’s degree in computer Science, computer engineering, or a closely related field
  • Have at least 5+ years of data modeler, analyst or other relevant experience 
  • Have good knowledge in querying and any manipulation language, like SQL or Python (Pandas)
  • Experience building entity-relationship data models, dimensional data models, and/or graph data models
  • Understand concepts of data lakes, data warehouses, data integration, and data consumption
  • Adept of open-source technology, particularly Apache Foundation (e.g., Apache Atlas or Apache Superset)
  • Are familiar with big data technology stack (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Pandas/Koalas, Flink, Dask)
  • Have experience with on-premises or any major cloud platform, such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud
  • Are acquainted with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB or Elastic Search
