Role Overview
A Program Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing the fulfillment of larger organizational goals. They coordinate activities between multiple projects without directly managing them. Instead, they manage the main program by placing their attention on the program strategy, project delegation, and program implementation. This manager is responsible for ensuring that the team members work together effectively to achieve the big picture vision.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mentors and coaches Technical Program Owners (TPOs) and other Project Managers (PMs) on the programManages delivery of technical software development projectsUses agile best practices to identify areas of opportunity within team(s) and influence positive change through education and mentoring both at the team level and within the clientTranslates Pillar-level objectives and roadmap into team-level projectsProactively unblocks their teams as needed through deep understanding of solving technical, design, and analytical problemsPartners with design and engineering to accelerate team velocityImplements current product management processes and recommends new process improvementsOwns and contributes to all areas of their product area (i.e., docs, blog, marketing content, sales, and success enablement)Ensures clear areas of ownership and removes product debt (e.g., sunsetting features, killing betas without PMF)Plays gatekeeper to prevent distractions and protect the team's focusBuilds alignment and drives decision-making across multiple teams, within or across pillars, including other vendor teammatesArticulates and reinforces a compelling shared vision with project teams, inspires them to stay focused as hard problems/blockers ariseFosters a team culture that values sharing feedback and openness to different points of viewDefines clean product interfaces and abstractions (e.g., API and data model design)Develops quarter-long roadmapRecognized as internal subject matter expert for features owned, how it interacts with adjacent product areas, and how customers make use of themRisk ManagementMonitors and measures velocity and quality of delivery while identifying and escalating risksIdentifies means for risk mitigation and follows themRelease managementEnsures that release procedures are followed, and proper communication is doneRequired Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of Agile software development principlesFamiliarity with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) toolsEffective communication skills, including effective written and verbal communicationSound decision making and prioritization skills, across multiple projects and competing prioritiesEducation and Experience
Minimum 5-7 years of leading, managing and delivering large enterprise scale programsAt least 3 years in a consulting or client facing roleExperience with complex risk-managementExperience managing budgets and project plans with deep understanding of project financesExcellent stakeholders’ management around program timelines, risks and scopeExperience working in TPM & TPO roles, or similarPhysical Requirements
