Role Overview 
A Sr. TPM is our expert in delivery and go-to person when customers ask how Nortal delivers high quality and high-value software. This role manages and drives objectives, works backward from an ambiguous business problem, and identifies the teams and workstreams that are necessary to solve it. Sr. TPMs can propose the scope, budget, and timelines suitable for the objective’s return on investment.  
 
To be successful in this role, a Sr. TPM must thrive in solving complex business problems and excel in driving the success of high performing development teams and ideally, will have a strong background in software engineering. This role will use their knowledge to work across various stakeholders and business functions to identify, define and deliver solutions that meet critical business needs. This role will also work closely with technical teams, contributing to the technical solution, overseeing and coordinating with other members of the team to ensure successful delivery. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  •  Manages delivery of several software development projects. 
  •  Ensures delivery progress is tracked and visible (SDLC/Agile management and communication tools). 
  • Ensures delivery needs and expectations are met (story quality, prioritization, WIP, definition of done, etc.) 
  • Identifies and properly assesses and escalates risks. Assists in establishing and implementing mitigation strategies to address risks. 
  • Monitors and tracks project financials, ensuring projects are meeting profitability expectations.  
  • Presents Nortal’s delivery models and principles to new potential customers. 
  • Writes proposals and sets up models for estimations in sales engineering process. 
  • Handles difficult conversations around scope and price negotiations of contracts. 
  • Works on statements of work (SOWs) and understand risks and opportunities from SOWs. 
  • Contributes to the broader community outside of direct work through training. Conducts internal and external trainings in addition to supporting team to do the same. 
  • Coaches at least two (2) TPMs to their next level. 
  • Establishes team process and cadence. 
  • Plans and coordinates team delivery ceremonies. 
  • Monitors and measures team efficiency (throughput/velocity). 
  • Ensures release procedures are followed. 
  • Qualifications

  • Ability to interface with other Nortal geographies and manage communication across different time zones. 
  • Experience serving as a Scrum Master for development teams, Certified Scrum Master preferred. 
  • Experience delivering program projects across multiple business domains. 
  • Strong understanding of various agile delivery methods (Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, Lean, XP). 
  • Experience creating and fostering a collaborative team environment where everyone can do their best work and working toward the project’s goals. 
  • Ability to create, maintain and drive to project milestones. 
  • Ability to recognize risks posed by product development onto our Nortal team and successfully negotiate alternatives. 
  • Has experience with scope and price negotiations and is able to manage those risks as early as possible. 
  • Experience creating project communications and status appropriate for the needs of the project and audience. 
  • Passion for technology and ability to thrive working on a fast-paced projects. 
  • 5+ years of Technical Project Management experience managing agile teams of at least five (5) full-time engineers. 
  • 3+ years of consulting company experience. 
  • BA/BS+ degree, preferably in CS related major. 

  • Supervision Given/Received: 
  • Works under minimal supervision. 
  • Supervises intermediate TPMs (TPM I) and advanced TPMs (TPM II).
