As part of Penumbra’s legal team, you will support a growing and dynamic company that develops ground-breaking technology to further its mission of saving patients’ lives. In this role, the Corporate Counsel, International will have a diverse range of responsibilities, primarily focused on distribution agreements, regulatory service agreements, sales agent relationships, subsidiary management, international planning, pricing and compliance and employment matters.    

What You'll Work On

  • Advise and support the company’s international sales and marketing efforts, including partnering with Compliance on the due diligence process for international distributors, regulatory and sales agents, and other commercial partners; drafting relevant agreements, amendments and letters; and, monitoring ongoing international expansion for potential legal risks.
  • Advise and assist with implementation of international pricing strategies with senior management.
  • Work closely with outside counsel and Human Resources department to advise on international employment contracting and employment questions
  • Review and advise on marketing literature, social media programs, and interactions with healthcare professionals for the APAC and LatAm regions.
  • Improve and further develop third party compliance program in close coordination with Compliance to include an audit process for international third parties.
  • Collaborate with other Legal team members and the Finance department on international subsidiary formation and maintenance matters.
  • Work closely with local counsel on disputes with distributors and regulatory agents as they arise.
  • What You Bring

  • J.D. with a minimum of 4+ years of relevant work experience with some portion of work experience from a large law firm
  • Membership with the California Bar, or at least one other state’s bar, and the ability to obtain registered in-house counsel status
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the FCPA and ABAC laws and compliance
  • Ability to process a high volume of work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills; ability to lead and maintain productive relationships with other functional areas and on a global basis.
  • Personal integrity, good judgment, risk-assessment skills, and proactive problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency with all types of technology necessary to complete work requirements.
