The Senior BI Data Engineer will be a part of the Data Analytics team and be responsible for managing the data and reporting processes, AI/ML analytics environment, responsible for accurate data collection, processing, modeling, and analysis. The Senior BI Data Engineer will design, build, and implement data integration solutions - including data pipelines, data APIs, and ETL jobs, to meet the data needs of applications, services, data assets, and business intelligence and analytical tools. Working with business users, data architects, application development teams, data analytics teams, business analytics, product managers, and the data governance COE, the Senior BI Data Engineer will design and develop ELT between databases, data assets, external partners, and third-party systems in a combination of cloud and on-premises platforms.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize complex information from disparate sources into a single reporting view/data layer using SQL or similar tools. Summarize results and present findings to our non-analytic audiences.
  • Conduct analyses of data, ranging from descriptive ad-hoc analyses to in-depth investigations of healthcare utilization trends/outcomes and prepare data summarization presentation for review by leadership team and key stakeholders.
  • Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to conduct quality assurance testing on data from initial delivery to final merged product to ensure results are accurate and aligned with documented requirements.
  • Support skill development of team by sharing knowledge, developing, and sharing new technical skills, and providing guidance and mentorship to other team members.
  • Lead discussions on data ingestion standardization, data conformance/quality and audit balance control.
  • Build data semantic layer, test, validate and present to analytical and reporting team.
  • Design/develop data security model, views, tables for specific business use cases.* • Build innovative, scalable, parameterized, efficient solutions around data.
  • Advanced understanding of software and pipeline development aimed at data-driven business value generation.
  • Advanced experience in the development, construction, testing, and maintenance of data architectures.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Understands relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adheres to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
  • Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
  • Position Qualifications

  • Masters’ Degree with relevant course work, with 5+ years of business experience leading analyses and initiatives with track record of business impact, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+years of experience programming using R, Hadoop, Python, SQL OR a Masters’ Degree with relevant course work
  • 3+ years of experience in BI data visualization in Tableau
  • A strong technical understanding of ETL processes, data analytics tools, and their associated technologies
  • Excellent coding skills including Python, R, and their Spark interfaces (PySpark, Sparklyr), an open-source spirit
  • Sound understanding of software engineering best practices including version control and CI/CD; attention to detail and ready to work collaboratively
  • Strong project management skills in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude to engage in hands-on fast prototyping and proven business acumen
  • Excellent proven personal leadership, collaboration, communication, and analytical skills
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously

  • Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds
