In this role as a Sr. Instructional Designer, you will design, develop and evaluate training programs to support the stability and growth of our company. 
 
You will also identify the performance, skills, knowledge, information and attitude gaps of a targeted audience and create, select and/or suggest learning experiences to fill this gap. 
 
For existing programs, you will evaluate for effectiveness of the training and select and/or suggest solutions to enhance or improve the training programs.
 
Current programs include: 
New Hire Orientation, Train the Trainer, Microsoft Office and Quality System (QSR) initiatives, etc.
 
Note: This is a hybrid role which means that the selected candidate will need to live within a commutable distance to Alameda, CA and be able to work on-site weekly.
 
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Facilitate the instructional design process from initial needs assessment through implementation of 
the completed training solution
• Assess training needs through surveys, test data, interviews with employees, focus groups, and/or 
consultation with management or other instructors
• Design Training Outlines for new and existing programs
• Contribute to new training program design and existing program enhancements
• Create courses in ILT, Hybrid and E-Learning formats
• Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
• Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
• Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course.
• Maintain project documentation and course folders
• Provide training on new training programs to Training Specialists
• Mentor and provide guidance to Instructional Designers
• Ensure that all training materials meet QSR compliance requirements
• Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
• Maintain clean room standards, practices, and housekeeping according to standard operating 
procedures and the illness and injury prevention program*
• Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global 
quality system regulations, standards, and procedures. 
• Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards and procedures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned. 
 
Position Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, communications, education, or a related field, with 5+ years of 
Instructional Design experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech industry, or an 
equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of learning and development or training experience
• In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
• Video/Image design skills (Articulate 360, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro)
• Ability to write effective, copy instructional text, audio and video scripts
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects 
simultaneously
• Basic knowledge of cGMP/QSR requirements
 
Working Conditions
• General office, laboratory, and cleanroom environments 
• Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens
• Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds. 
• The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and to use a computer, sitting for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability 
to read, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
 
Annual Base Salary Range:  $92,698 - $139,824

Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
