About Role

The people and teams who make up Plenty are at the core of how we do that. We are an ag-tech company looking for a Supervisor of our Laramie Install Team who is excited to bring innovation and reliability to indoor farming. The Supervisor, Install Team is responsible for leading a hands-on team to plan, execute, and complete installation projects on-time, to specification, and within budget. This includes planning the daily, weekly, and monthly actions for install team members and some third-party vendor. The Supervisor, Install Team is also responsible for ensuring key weekly milestones are achieved and preparing short weekly updates for the Project Manager and Director, Science Operations. You will be responsible for coordinating multiple projects at a time.

What you'll do:

  • Organize, assign tasks to, and review labor daily to complete projects within the specified budget and timeline
  • Forecast labor needed for each project and estimate completion timelines. Measure actual vs. forecasted labor to improve future forecasting
  • Identify blockers and risks to project timeline and budget. Proactively suggest ways to stay on-time and on-budget. When situations change, react and adjust the course of your team to get back on track
  • Provide updates to management and other stakeholders on cost, schedule, and progress
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain a team of 3-10 install team technicians. Proactively identify and resolve any personnel matters within the install team
  • Prepare requests for additional resources, whether employees or contractors, as needed
  • Identify and coordinate multiple vendors to execute both projects and maintenance-related contract services
  • Conduct regular team meetings
  • Create, review, and improve team standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Lead or participate in internal improvement initiatives
  • Work with the Project Managers to define project milestones and measure progress against them.
  • Apply your knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems in the facility to design reviews and proactively identify ways we can improve the facility
  • Assist with design efforts for technical execution and manufacturing
  • Manage the install team workshop, including the parts inventory and training of new team members on safe tool use
  • Comply with all local legislative and internal policy requirements, including permitting, food safety, and worker safety
  • Lead team to follow Plenty’s Health and Safety programs and participate in the Safety Council

What we’re looking for: 

  • 5+ years of related experience, including 2+ years as a direct team supervisor, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 3+ years experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or other related trade
  • Experience as a foreman or leadership role in a construction, assembly, or trade environment strongly preferred
  • Experience constructing hydroponic farming systems preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to forecast or quote projects, including estimating labor resources and timelines
  • Experience with project scheduling 
  • Experience administering a maintenance management system, including receiving, prioritizing, and completing work order tickets
  • Experience working with a wide range of vendors and third party contractors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including familiarity with Slack and G-Suite software

  • Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations
