Snowflake’s frostbyte Industry Solution team is actively seeking a Data Apps Specialist - a proven technical specialist that will play a leading role in solution and technical asset development. In this role, you will work in a highly collaborative, agile team alongside a broader team of technical experts, to design and build innovative technical solutions for the world’s most complex business problems. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical experience to innovate with the Snowflake Data Cloud, in total alignment with various stakeholders in product, engineering, professional services, industry sales, and marketing. The Data Apps Specialist will define and lead web application development as part of a self-directing agile team, building strong and compelling technical assets alongside the broader team. Reporting to the Manager of frostbyte Industry Solutions, you will be part of a high caliber team of builders, inventors, and innovators that will design, build, and evangelize as a cohesive unit - making technical assets scalable, repeatable and consistent on a global scale for both internal and external audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate and define solution scope and architecture with the team from idea, to design, to build, to packaging, to consumption.  Generate or build upon ideas as a team,  and work as a unit to define use-case/feature definition, technical design elements, storyboarding, validation, and build, for both internal and external use.
  • Work with the broader solutions team to maintain and continuously evolve Snowflake’s solutions  to stay ahead of the competition, and ensure mission critical systems are maintained and secure.
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries and requests about solutions, working with the broader team to execute on issues, feature requests, or roadmap items that are in the project backlog. Work with technical teams to coordinate backlog grooming and execution.
  • Create & maintain related technical enablement assets - demo setup scripts, execution scripts, setup and integration guides, technical videos, readme files and documentation.
  • Deliver solution enablement to various internal and external stakeholders - to raise awareness and familiarity on the business value of Snowflake; communicate & market solution updates across various internal communication channels - demos, new feature additions, innovative design patterns, and roadmap items/release notes.
  • Partner closely with the Principal Architect, working with industry GTM, product management & product marketing on product roadmap and industry launch events, participate in marquee events throughout the year.
  • Identify emerging trends, white-space opportunities for Snowflake, and building new programs within identified features.

ON DAY ONE WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO HAVE: 

  • 7+ years of full stack application architecture experience with a deep understanding of how to scale web applications with large data sets
  • 3+ years of Cloud Provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) customer facing web application development experience
  • Broad range of experience with on-prem and/or cloud databases - both OLTP + OLAP
  • Knowledge of SQL, Javascript, Python, Java, Scala, Go, Ruby or other languages
  • Industry Focus a plus (Education, Federal, Financial Services, Healthcare & Lifesciences, Insurance, Adv. Media, Retail CPG, Technology and Telecom)
  • Knowledge or hands on experience of Snowflake preferred 
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams, being able to communicate effectively between business and technical stakeholders
  • Organized and able to manage and deliver multiple tasks efficiently, effectively and on time in a metrics based organization
  • Excellent technical writing, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external business and technical teams.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience using JIRA is a plus.
