We’re hiring talented Software Engineering Managers to help us expand the Snowflake Data Cloud in the areas of Data Engineering, Data Pipelines, Data Science and Data Lakes. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager in one of these areas you will lead and expand our engineering team in Bellevue, WA. Together with industry-wide experts in distributed systems, databases, and stream processing you will evolve our elastic, large scale, high-performance data cloud into an unparalleled data processing platform with simplicity at its core.
As the manager of a team, you will help Snowflake realize its mission and vision of becoming the premier Data Cloud used by enterprises. You will be critical to the adoption of Snowflake as the platform of choice for the growing number of analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and application developers building their data architecture in the cloud. You will partner with product managers to chart the quarterly and long-term roadmap for the team. You will ensure that the team is executing towards serving the current needs of customers, while also ensuring that we are set up to stay ahead of technological trends and future demands.
OUR IDEAL SENIOR MANAGER WILL HAVE:
- 3+ years of software engineering management experience.
- 7+ years industry experience designing and building distributed data systems.
- A track record of recruiting and leading technical teams in a demanding talent market.
- Experience building enterprise grade, reliable and trustworthy software or services.
- Excellent problem solving skills, and strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Fluency in Java or C++ or Python.
- Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate well, and mentor junior engineers.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Outstanding written and oral English language skills.
- Ability to work on-site in our Bellevue, WA office.
BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
- Database technologies including internal design and implementation.
- Developing data or distributed systems internals.
- Large scale distributed systems, transactions and consistency models.
- Multi-tenant systems, with focus on reliability, performance, isolation and security.
- Proven experience with authoring roadmap documents, project plans and RCAs.
