CIVIL ENGINEER, SPACEPORT DEVELOPMENT

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of land development projects including site feasibility and conceptual planning, storm water management, grading, drainage and utility design, erosion and sediment control, permitting as needed, and more. You may also conduct permitting research, due diligence, write specifications and reports. The Civil Engineer will work within 2D/3D software alongside the design team managers to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own site feasibility and conceptual planning, storm water management, grading, drainage and utility design, erosion and sediment control, and permitting as needed
  • Perform calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities
  • Create of layout drawings with coordinates, foundation/building design elevations from sea level (FFEs)
  • Design roadways
  • Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type land development projects
  • Prepare construction drawings, plans, and project specifications
  • Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices, and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various plans, reports and design documents
  • Assist in performing basic storm water calculations and reporting
  • Plot and assemble civil engineering plans and reports
  • Assist other departments with engineering and technical support needs
  • Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and clients
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of site/civil land development experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience with civil design software packages like StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS
  • Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designs
  • Experience with Project Management of construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
  • Understanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, electrical and surveying
  • Knowledge of local city, county and state land use processes and regulations for Texas
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team environment
  • EIT or Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Knowledge of processes of governing permitting and/or environmental agencies

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Willing to work outdoors for extended periods of time
