DEVELOPMENT TEST AUTOMATION ENGINEER (STARLINK)

This role is focused on developing integrated test operations and automation for validating flight hardware design. As a Development Test Automation Engineer, you will support hardware design as well as design, activate, and upgrade automated test equipment.

We are looking for creative and driven software engineers to design the next generation satellite test and automation software to build thousands of satellites that we launch directly to space. Aerospace experience is not required to be successful here – engineers on this team are curious, collaborative, love to learn new things, and work effectively in a dynamic environment to deliver high-impact technology on a massive scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead complex automation design projects under tight deadlines, coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Develop interdisciplinary automation solutions to meet the rapid pace of requirements of the Starlink Satellite program.
  • Develop procedures for activation and field testing of new automation.
  • Write test sequences and hardware drivers for production lines that manufacture Starlink Satellites and complex sub-assemblies.
  • Develop software tools/libraries to interface with satellite hardware/software, automated test systems, production manufacturing systems and automated factory equipment.
  • Design data analysis tools, dashboards, and reports to track key metrics and failures.
  • Create scalable applications, services, and infrastructure to enable a smart factory.
  • Hands-on integration and troubleshooting of flight hardware/software systems and production network services.
  • Own the overall health and success of testing infrastructure to enable rapid software development and system stability.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering field.
  • 2+ years of experience in development, design, engineering analysis, and/or build (internships, student projects, and professional experience qualify).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Developed, debugged and deployed software that has been used in real world applications/projects.
  • Development experience in C, C++, Python, or mobile development languages.
  • Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals.
  • Solid fundamental knowledge of networks, electronics, math, and physics.
  • Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.
  • Experience with networking protocols (UDP, TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Experience in C++ for high performance systems.
  • Experience with security issues associated with distributed systems and internet services.
  • Deep understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment & continuous monitoring.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
