FACILITIES MANAGER

SpaceX is committed to developing revolutionary space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets. We are looking for a talented Facilities Manager to oversee the operation and maintenance of our Seattle facility. This position is directly responsible for ensuring that our facility systems are in top-notch condition, keeping maintenance costs low, vendors efficient, and enhancing our image to customers, visitors, and VIPs. The Facilities Manager position will help to ensure that we keep facility maintenance costs low, vendors competitive and efficient, and find better ways to enhance our image to customers, visitors, and VIPs. Our facility care is a direct reflection of our values and the impact is immense.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team responsible for all facilities operations (building operations. janitorial, landscaping, and general maintenance) at the SpaceX Starlink facility to ensure continual services to the employees and customers
    • Includes HVAC systems, fluid plumbing systems, fire suppression systems, and electrical systems
  • Manage third-party service providers, such as janitorial, to ensure services are meeting corporate standards and terms of contract
  • Partner with our construction team to develop, plan and execute site improvement projects in accordance with overall business objectives and strategy
  • Administer an effective and efficient periodic maintenance and break/fix program for the site

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or other technical discipline
  • 5+ years of professional experience with facilities engineering or project management

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Experience managing third-party vendors
  • Experience negotiating contracts and comparing service costs to achieve maximum value
  • Experience with asset management software
  • Knowledge of building management and automated facilities monitoring systems and processes, such as: HVAC systems, fluid plumbing systems, fire suppression systems, generators, or fuel storage systems
  • High attention to detail and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to work independently with little direction
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to anticipate needs and develop innovative solutions for continuous improvement

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provide 24/7 on-call support of all critical activities and emergency situations

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
