MELTING OPERATIONS AND SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (FOUNDRY) – (2ND SHIFT)

Success in this role requires people who are motivated, adaptable, inquisitive, have a high level of attention to detail, and are eager to learn new things. The Foundry Technician will be responsible for learning the details of our processes as they evolve, then using that understanding to effectively and safely operate equipment and propose improvements that help SpaceX make world-changing launch vehicles and spacecraft.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely support de-shelling casting mold operations
  • Safely support gate removal
  • Safely operate large industrial equipment including abrasive saws, chop saws and plasma cutters
  • Effectively use water blast triplex machine
  • Read and interpret work instructions and provide process improvements
  • Support part operations in partnership with design engineers
  • Move and stage parts and material as needed with pallet jacks, forklifts, and other assisted lift methods or with SpaceX vehicles
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
  • Keep work areas free of debris
  • Effectively follow work instructions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing or production environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with foundry processes & investment casting or large industrial equipment
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Experience with foundry operations
  • Experience with investment casting
  • Demonstrated professional track record of creative problem solving, cost reductions, and process improvement
  • Water jet experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Experience with Forklift

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a 2nd shift role working from 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
