GLOBAL LOGISTICS SPECIALIST (STARLINK)

As the Global Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day and tactical management of logistics functions necessary to support inbound and outbound domestic and international movements for the development and production of Starlink’s global network and operations, inclusive of all segments therein including Satellite, Gateway, and User Terminals. This position will be responsible for the carrier performance management, logistics capacity and allocations, planning and mode, service level alignment, logistics solutions design and development, optimal freight routing and cost reporting including data analytics to support business decisions and planning. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for coordinating the transport of inbound and outbound movements, both domestically and internationally using SpaceX-appointed freight forwarders and logistics providers
  • Serves as liaison between internal customer base and external logistics providers, providing quotes, arranging freight, communicating logistics protocols, and providing instructions to vendors and logistics partners
  • Communicates with vendors, forwarders, and logistics providers on documentation requirements, scheduling criteria, and model changes as required
  • Evaluates Logistics service providers operation and aligns through defined expectation to Starlink standards and requirements.
  • Tracks, traces, and updates status for inbound material and acts as the point of contact for logistics-related issues at site(s).
  • Manages flow of goods from supply base through customs to final destination point utilizing logistics network, support tools, and makes recommendations to facilitate optimization.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations against established targets to ensure that logistics is aligned and meets business requirements of Supply Chain and Production stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensures international shipments meet all regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  • Partners with supply chain entities to ensure that logistics criteria, vendor routing, and network processes meet business needs.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for Starlink business to ensure exigent logistics needs are met (expedite, customs processing, documentation, etc.).
  • Interfaces with Supply Chain teams to develop logistics schedules necessary to support production, inventory, and material conveyance cycles.
  • Identifies process gaps and makes immediate recommendations/corrective actions to policies and providers within logistics networks.
  • Reports daily status to business stakeholders and weekly logistics statuses as required.
  • Proactively manages and measures logistics service provider networks within Starlink network business segment.
  • Ensure business practices not only guarantee the movement of product in a quality manner, but also meet those needs outlined in regulatory documentation, internal requirements, and customer flow-downs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience coordinating imports and exports in an international setting
  • 5+ years of experience in the process development and management of logistics networks
  • 5+ years of experience in managing business and/or network operations through data analytics

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or similar technical discipline
  • 5+ years of direct experience in managing projects, products, and developing global logistics solutions across the various logistics service modes of: air, ground (FTL, LTL), ocean(FCL, LCL), multi modal, inter-modal and integrated carriers
  • 5+ years of experience in contribution to organizations logistics strategy, procurement, carrier selection and service(s) to align with business strategy 
  • Import and export experience with compliance with ITAR and C-TPAT regulations
  • Import/export regulatory functions, including HTS, Schedule B knowledge, Incoterms, ISF filing process, DSP-5, DSP-73, ATA Carnet
  • Proven role in the development of complex global logistics models employing intermodal network and knowledge of global supply chain and logistics markets and networks
  • Experience with NVOs, ocean carriers, drayage companies, freight forwarders and customs house brokerage firms networks and ability to navigate through these processes and organizations
  • Experience in developing sustainable and scalable solutions with qualified freight forwarders within general logistics networks and industries
  • Extensive knowledge of global routing, service selections, models and key logistics routing guide criteria
  • Thorough knowledge of critical-need/expedite shipping methods and mode selections
  • Experience with Microsoft applications
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems
  • Experience with SQL, Excel and other data analytics tools and strong analytical and data modeling ability. Ability to illustrate how data was utilized in previous logistics network decision making or day-to-day operations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Utilization and support with development, leading and maintaining the performance management process and tools to measure and evaluate goals of the logistics programs and partners
  • Applies situational awareness in identifying critical needs within the logistics networks, operations, and creating immediate plans of action to mitigate risks and adverse impacts to the business
