SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

HARDWARE TEST ENGINEER, COMPONENTS

The Starship Components Test team develops, tests, troubleshoots, and delivers automated test systems and mechanisms that drive critical capabilities on Starship/Super Heavy - from regulators and butterfly valves to flap/fin actuators. We design and build valves, regulators, and actuators for maximum reliability in extreme environments, with temperatures ranging from +900F to -400F and pressures beyond 10,000 psig. As a Hardware Test Engineer at SpaceX, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions at the cutting edge of space technology. You will introduce innovative products to the factory, evolve shop layout and capabilities, implement flight-like testing, solve nuanced root cause investigations, and achieve SpaceX’s highest-yet component build rate.

This Hardware Test Engineer role will be responsible for the development, build, and operation of complex and automated pressure systems. It is a dynamic position that requires the flexibility to work on different systems, analyze data, troubleshoot anomalies, and the ability to work autonomously to fixed schedules while maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Train new personnel on the required processes and operations of the systems for which they have developed and/or are responsible for.
  • Ensure all work is being conducted in compliance with all safety protocols, at all times.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering concepts, ability to read drawings and fluid system schematics.
  • Experience in a test focused role.
  • Experience in a product ownership role.
  • Experience working with pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices.
  • Experience working with complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with complex automated high-pressure test facilities.
  • Mathematical, computer, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work weekends and extended hours as needed.
