LEAD MACHINE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (MARINE SYSTEMS)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and support junior technicians to complete daily repairs
  • Motivate and train technicians to follow the correct lock out tag out procedures
  • Responsible for executing and monitoring daily tasks to meet department goals
  • Share technical knowledge and influence best troubleshooting practices
  • Maintain and repair all assets to ensure their proper operating condition
  • Provide maintenance on various equipment such as ovens, furnaces, vacuum systems, composite ply cutting machines, epoxy dispensing machines, environmental test chambers, tube bending, friction stir welding equipment, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems down to the component level
  • Read and utilize schematics (mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic)
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems within a manufacturing or production environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with reading blueprints and correlating them to physical components
  • Ability to navigate, utilize, and close out work orders
  • Ability to lead highly skilled technicians to complete complex repairs and preventative maintenance items in a timely manner
  • Maintenance experience with various welding equipment (robotic, electron beam, friction, etc.)
  • Maintenance experience on gas and electric ovens, vacuum systems, environmental thermal testing, and ply cutting equipment
  • 5+ years of experience as a maintenance technician or field service engineer
  • Experience operating a forklift and other related inventory equipment
  • Ability to use power tools and hand tools as well as heavy equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and drawings
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports (advanced MS Office skills)
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency
  • Strong prioritization skills, and, analytical, computer, and written skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines in a high-paced work environment
  • Self-driven with a positive “can do” attitude and willing to both seek answers on your own and to pursue learning from others

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to travel (estimated up to 10%)
  • General physical fitness is required for some work areas, hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 35 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to work at elevated heights
  • Ability to work in extreme environments – heat, cold, rain, fumes, odors, and noise
  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
