NDE LEVEL II INSPECTOR, PENETRANT INSPECTION (PT)
The NDE Operations organization at SpaceX is an inclusive, inter-disciplinary team that is committed to the providing high quality inspections of flight components and production assemblies. The breadth of exposure as an NDE Level II Inspector is immense, as the organization is responsible for a large diversity of inspection types across Falcon, Dragon, Starship, and Raptor programs. You have the ability to engage with the process to provide continuous improvement to execute on the mission to make humanity interplanetary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform surface inspections with dye penetrant materials and visual testing
  • Interpret and evaluate results on a range of different weldments, castings, forgings, and materials produced from different methods
  • Communicate and report findings to production & engineering
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
  • Support the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries
  • Assist in training and developing others within the team
  • Support research and development in to system qualification and certification for critical processes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • NDE Level II certification in line with ASNT-TC-1A or NAS-410 guidance in Penetrant Testing (PT)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Level II NDE/NDT inspector
  • Experience in the use of florescent materials such as method A and C
  • Experience in the inspection of cast materials utilizing Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Experience in the interpretation of AMS, AWS / ASME, ASTM standards
  • NAS 410 Level II certification in Penetrant Testing (PT) and Visual Testing (VT)
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft applications - Word, Power Point, Excel

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and run.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines on 1st or 2nd shift hours

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
