PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR (STARLINK)

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for organized, creative, and driven supervisors to spearhead the production of thousands of ground stations, ground station subsystems, and satellite component machining to enable global ground infrastructure.  As a Starlink Production Supervisor you will manage large teams of technicians and assemblers while working closely with design engineers, ultimately driving the transition from initial prototyping to full-scale production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate and steer the collective efforts of machinist, process, and assembly technicians
• Accountable to production delivery of operations potentially including a large CNC machine operation, electromechanical assemblies, PCBA HASS/HALT, and process equipment (laser weld, braze, etc.)
• Coordinate & improve support efforts like receiving, material handling, packaging, waste management, global logistic plan, and safety
• Enforce area standards and run rules (includes bi-annual reviews, development plans, and disciplinary action)
• Interface with area leadership and prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
• Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications, drive MRB management & burn-down
• Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement
• Optimization of product flow through the factory
• Root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plans
• Identify and eliminate defects within the area value stream
• Reduce downtime for product and personnel
• Support efforts to transition product from engineering development to full rate production
• Review drawings and technical data packages for manufacturability while providing constructive feedback to engineering/design community

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/testing environment
• 1+ years of experience leading a team or project

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree
• Lean manufacturing training and experience
• Experience rapidly hiring, training, and stabilizing large production teams
• Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving total cost equation
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret controlled documentation and processes such as: cable harnesses, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists
• Familiarity with design for manufacturability, kaizen, lean manufacturing, six sigma, and failure mode effects analysis
• PCBA, harness, electro-mechanical assembly, optical component manufacturing and prototype development experience
• Experience in fast-paced production environment with flight quality hardware
• Six sigma certification
• Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment
• Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to distinguish colors 
• Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed. This role will be covering both 1st shift and 2nd shift (estimated start time is 7-8 am)
• Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed. Up to 10% travel
• Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
