PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR (STARLINK INJECTION MOLDING) – 1st SHIFT

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable.

We are looking for organized, creative, and driven supervisors to spearhead the production of injection molded parts that will be utilized in Starlink Kit hardware. The IMM production line is the latest addition to our internal production capabilities, and will enable SpaceX to continue rapid deployment of Starlink capabilities around the world.

As a Production Supervisor, you will manage a team of Associates and Process Technicians while working closely with tool technicians and manufacturing engineers, ultimately driving the transition from prototyping to full-scale production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and schedule Associates and Process Technicians and work with 2nd Shift Supervisor and Manager to address gaps
  • Interface with area leadership and prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
  • Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement
  • Enforce area standards and run rules (includes bi-annual reviews, development plans, and disciplinary action)
  • Coordinate support organization efforts to minimize production interruptions
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications and coordinate the disposition of non-conforming product. Aid in investigations and root-cause analysis of any non-conformances
  • Establish and analyze area metrics for trend extrapolation to drive the following:
    • Personnel training and development
    • Development and implementation of efficiency improvement projects
    • Optimization of product flow through the factory
    • Root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plans
    • Identification and elimination of defects within the area value stream
    • Reduction of downtime for product and personnel
  • Support efforts to transition product from engineering development to full rate production

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/testing environment
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team or project

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience
  • Experience in fast-paced production environment and ability to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment
  • Experience rapidly hiring, training, and stabilizing large production teams
  • Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving total cost equation
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret controlled documentation and processes such as: layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability, kaizen, lean manufacturing, six sigma, and failure mode effects analysis
  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Available to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed (estimated start time is 5 am)
  • Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, climb ladders, stoop, bend, pull, push, and maneuver in tight spaces
