SOFTWARE ENGINEER, INTEGRATION & TEST (STARLINK)

Join the team responsible for systems enabling the rapid development velocity that is critical to the success of Starlink. As a software engineer specializing in test and infrastructure, you are responsible for developing, deploying, supporting and maintaining solutions for fast and accurate integration testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hands-on integration and troubleshooting of all flight Starlink hardware/software.
  • Design and build test platforms to best validate Starlink software prior to flight.
  • Build systems that allow for test execution across multiple environments: virtualized hardware, real hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and on-orbit testing.
  • Invent new tools that enable more frequent and reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis as part of a continuous integration and release system.
  • Analyze test results and identify bugs that require in-depth investigations with engineers across the organization.
  • Work closely with developers to provide a reliable, fast, accurate and easy-to-use integrated test platform.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the test systems and create innovative solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline or 2+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Development experience in C, C++ or , python, or mobile development languages.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Fluency in object oriented Python development.
  • Experience building, testing, or working with hardware test setups.
  • Experience with networking protocols (UDP, IPv4, IPv6, gRPC, etc.)
  • Radio frequency (RF) system-level design, modems and diagnostic test equipment experience.
  • Data analysis skillset and experience with simulation software.
  • Linux or BSD proficiency.
  • Deep understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment & continuous monitoring.
  • Developed, debugged and deployed software that has been used in real world applications/projects.
  • Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals.
  • Solid fundamental knowledge of networks, electronics, RF communications, math, and physics.
  • Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
