SOFTWARE ENGINEER, TEST AUTOMATION (STARLINK NETWORK)

Join the team responsible for the automated verification of functionality and scale of the software that supports topology and routing of the Starlink laser mesh network. Your creativity and relentless commitment to quality will be critical to the reliability of our service and the success of our business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As part of the production software development team, build an automation framework and build programs to automate the test process
  • Hands-on integration and troubleshooting of all mesh topology and routing hardware and software
  • Invent new tools that enable more frequent and reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis as part of a continuous integration and release system
  • Develop tools that allow for test execution across multiple environments: virtualized hardware, real hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and on-orbit testing
  • Analyze test results, particularly with respect to scale and performance, and identify bugs or shortcomings that require in-depth investigations with engineers across the organization

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline OR 2+ years of experience in software development
  • Development experience in C, C++, python, or mobile development languages
  • Experience with Linux (scripting, network troubleshooting)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Fluency in object-oriented Python development
  • Experience building, testing, or working with real-time embedded systems
  • Experience with testing for performance and scale
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively
  • Familiarity with the following: Continuous integration, simulation software, network protocols (TCP/UDP/gRPC/IPv6/MPLS), routing protocols (IS-IS/BGP), router configuration and troubleshooting, maintaining hardware test setups, routing protocol emulators (IXIA)
