TEST SPECIALIST (STARLINK VEHICLE SOFTWARE)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and ensure satellite development test systems and areas are operating properly
- Build, update, repair and validate bespoke test equipment, servers and network racks
- First level troubleshooting of system errors by reading and interpreting logged information and electrical/mechanical diagnostics
- Fabricate and repair cable harnesses including: soldering, crimping and assembling connectors
- Develop and document procedures for execution, maintenance, assembly, and anomaly handling
- Operate test systems using custom graphical and textual interfaces, written in Bash and Python, and running on Linux operating systems
- Aid in efforts to uncover root-cause of equipment failures and develop permanent resolution on issues found during test operations
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment,
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe work environment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Associate's degree in an engineering field or 2+ years of experience working in a hands-on technical position
- 1+ years of experience performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electronic engineering technology
- Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing
- Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals
- Strong understanding of technical documentation, engineering drawings, and schematics
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working and administering a Linux environment
- Developed and deployed software that has been used in real world projects (Python preferred)
- Basic understanding of networking, including VLANs, namespaces and routing
- Experience with radio frequency components, links and wiring
- Comfortable with basic mechanical tools and tasks, such installing subassemblies and racking equipment.
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Experience operating a crane or similar heavy equipment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
