Twilio is growing rapidly and seeking an Associate General Counsel, Commercial to join the legal team.  In this role you will oversee the growing, global commercial legal team, helping to guide the commercial law function at Twilio.  This role centers on leading the team in their jobs and being an escalation point in negotiating and closing a high volume of commercial transactions on a global basis; navigating privacy regulations and information security documentation; and working on ways to make the team more efficient and effective. The ideal candidate will have prior management experience with large, globally dispersed teams and be able to work effectively with senior management, with the ability to create strong trusted advisor relationships with the business leaders. Preference for attorneys experienced with high-growth companies and high volume of sales agreements.

Who?

Twilio is looking for a leader with a demonstrated track record of leading successful commercial legal teams.  

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience (at least 5 years in-house) working with commercial transactions, specifically in-house sales and negotiating SaaS and enterprise B2B transactions
• Excellent drafting, written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt legal requirements in balanced, creative and pragmatic ways to facilitate clear and open communication at all levels of the organization.
• The ideal candidate will have a sense of humor, be well organized, and demonstrate a genuine willingness to be accountable to timely delivery with exceptional results.
• Interface with sales and finance teams to assist the commercial legal team’s efforts in the preparation, implementation and optimization of processes and procedures and deal flows
• High personal standards of excellence and ethics, as well as the ability to act with discretion, strict confidentiality and sensitivity towards issues and individuals
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, juggle multiple projects with contending priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change in a dynamic environment.
