The Who, What, Where and Why

Twilio is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Go-To-Market (“GTM”) Finance team in Denver. This role will help track the investments fueling Twilio's GTM strategy, focusing on marketing, sales and services. You will primarily be responsible for reporting, forecasting, and analyzing all aspects of departmental operating expenses by working in tight partnership with Accounting to deliver accuracy to month and quarter-end close, being the source of truth on global workforce movement, and working with our business partners to provide transparency and visibility into their spend. Additionally, you will collaborate with the FP&A team on crafting Twilio’s consolidated P&L, recommending process improvements, generating budget vs actual analysis, and completing other ad hoc projects.

Who?

This is a critical role to managing our business, and the successful candidate is someone who:

  • Has 2+ years of Finance or Accounting experience, preferably in a high growth SaaS environment
  • Possesses a working knowledge of GAAP, month-end close processes, operational accounting procedures, and financial reporting
  • Excels at juggling multiple priorities, is eager to make an impact on the business, and motivated and able to collaborate across teams to tackle complex problems
  • Takes pride in their work’s integrity, quality, and accuracy, is extremely detail-oriented and is comfortable asking questions
  • Experienced with (e.g. Anaplan, NetSuite, Coupa, and other general FP&A software) and gravitates towards automating manual processes.

What?

As a Financial Analyst, you will:

  • BE AN OWNER: Establish proactive processes for tracking and providing real-time visibility on initiative-spend by working with business partners in GTM, accounting and corp FP&A
  • EMPOWER OTHERS: Build dashboards to illustrate spend forecast to GTM business partners including  reconciliation of POs/PRs and actualized expenses against initiative budgets, enabling our partners execute their business objectives and stay within budget
  • EMPOWER OTHERS: Provide data visibility into progress against hiring targets to the talent and business  within the GTM operational plan, and design processes to streamline data updates to stakeholders
  • WRITE IT DOWN: Partner with accounting to ensure accuracy of financial statements, which are leveraged across the business, by building detailed reconciliations for journal entries, accruals, and open spend items to compare against budgeted initiate spend.
  • DON’T SETTLE: Update weekly operational and financial metrics decks and work to automate population of data, so teams including GTM FP&A, GTM and Corp FP&A can review key metrics, while working towards making metrics more self-service for stakeholders
