Twilio is looking for a Senior Speech Engineer who wants to design, develop, deploy and operate services at scale to power Twilio’s AI/ML products. You are eager to learn from the team as well as inspire your teammates with your knowledge and skills. You think about how data shapes software as much as how your code does. Thinking of scale comes naturally to you. 

You have a keen sense of how data streams should be managed and how data should be organized. You have experience working with speech technologies and understand the infrastructure required to run high volume speech recognition systems.

Twilio is looking for a Senior Speech Engineer who lives the Twilio Magic and they also have: 

Basic Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, Statistics, Physics,  or related quantitative field
  • 2 years of experience in a production environment or equivalent experience in a research environment
  • Experience in Speech Recognition Technologies

You need to have the basic qualifications to be considered for this position. Below qualifications would be great to have but not required.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, Statistics, Physics,  or related quantitative field
  • 5 years of experience in Java or C++ in a production environment
  • Experience in Speech Recognition Technologies: Kaldi, SRILM, sequitur-G2P, and equivalent
  • Experience with deep learning toolkits like Tensorflow, PyTorch
  • Experience with LSTMs and RNNs in speech recognition applications
  • Experience in building speech recognition models for various languages and deploying them to production environment
  • Experience with data augmentation to increase robustness of model to various noise conditions.
  • Strong experience with descriptive statistics and visualization tools
  • Expert in Python, or another scripting language like Bash
  • Knowledge of statistical modelling / machine learning techniques
  • Experience with data selection methods

What?

This job is for a Senior Speech Engineer to be in charge of developing robust large scale speech recognition systems for multiple languages and environments. 

  • WRITE IT DOWN: Implement models and systems for accurate transcription of speech from various sources
  • DRAW THE OWL: Analyze and evaluate the quality of data used for model training and testing
  • BE AN OWNER & BE BOLD: Maintain a repository of models and document the training process for each model, along-side an audit-able trail for determining what data source was used for training the model.
  • EMPOWER OTHERS: Automate model validation and metrics collection in collaboration with the engineering teams.
  • NO SHENANIGANS: Develop and maintain model customization workflow and pipeline to automate model customization for various customers.
