Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Creative Director will oversee our internal creative team, freelancers, external creative agencies, and the entire creative process. We need a leader, a mentor, and an overall creative genius. This person will play a key role in the evolution of the Udacity brand, guide our internal creative team to greatness, and direct compelling and memorable design campaigns that solve both our business and creative goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Chief Marketing Officer to drive the overall creative direction for the Udacity brand.
  • Manage creation of all Udacity marketing efforts. Drive continual improvement in Udacity’s creative quality, thinking, and capabilities.
  • Manage and mentor the internal creative team. Champion innovation by introducing new ideas and stimulation to the team.
  • Bring bold conceptual ideas to help position Udacity as an innovator and thought leader in online education across all media and campaigns.
  • Establish scalable creative development and review process, to ensure that the creative team operates in a highly efficient manner while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Develop excellent relationships within Marketing and across the organization.
  • Partner closely with the enterprise and government sales team to conceptualize and deliver compelling sales presentations and collateral.
  • Partner with the video production team to deliver high-quality video content for advertising campaigns, case studies, product launches, and customer testimonials.

What we value:

  • 8+ years of design experience with previous experience leading an in-house creative team.
  • Experience working with both direct-to-consumer and B2B (particularly, enterprise) brands. 
  • Diverse portfolio with relevant work examples as both an individual and a team leader.
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to link creative to revenue-driving behavior.
  • Have a sound working knowledge of brand development, B2B enterprise sales, online advertising, e-commerce, PR, and video content.  
  • Exceptional aesthetic sense and intuitive understanding of design principles.
  • Excellent communicator and diplomatic leader. Has patience to listen to and account for varying creative feedback but possesses sufficient confidence to drive toward decision and execution.
