We are looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team in Toronto. Your job will be to efficiently manage the current payroll and benefits systems for our Canadian and US offices while continuously improving the way we do things, in particular our payroll, benefits and leave management processes.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you will work closely with our Global Payroll Manager based in Auckland, our People Experience Partner based in Toronto, as well as a bunch of other great Venders in the Finance and People & Culture teams.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Set up and maintain employee information in payroll softwares (PaymentEvolution and Gusto);
  • Administer our bi-monthly payroll, ensuring payroll and commissions are processed accurately and on time;
  • Keeping payroll records up to date with the correct pays rates, leave records, deduction records (eg RRSP and health benefits);
  • Ensure payroll is prepared in accordance with our statutory obligations and in line with Vend internal controls and policy;
  • Accurately track all health benefits, make amendments where necessary and support benefit provider transitions;
  • Perform HR administrative tasks (onboarding and offboarding of employees, employment verifications, Health and Safety report…);
  • Provide support and cover for the Global Payroll Manager in Vend’s other regions (New Zealand, Australia and UK).

What you need to bring:

  • 3+ years running Canadian payroll
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Reconciliations and the ability to process journals will be advantageous
