The Pricing & Profit Management team controls retail price to balance growth against profitability. We implement and optimize pricing strategies and reflect category nuances in pricing to grow the business across Europe.

We are looking for candidates who have a strong business sense, excel in critical thinking, and like to uncover the root causes of business challenges. They analyze and manipulate terabyte datasets to generate business insights and optimize business performance via pricing.

What You Will Do

As a Manager in Profit Management, you will take ownership of a pricing strategy or platform and ensure effectiveness across the entire EU business. Your responsibilities include

  • Implementing pricing/platform strategies to increase long term profit and measuring success against KPIs. Optimizing pricing within these strategies for our European catalog.
  • Continuously developing the pricing/platform strategy together with the global product team and the NA partner teams. This includes MVP development as well as adding to Wayfair’s global roadmap.
  • Leading regular steering meetings with EU and NA stakeholders. Communicating progress along KPIs and by sharing the overall narrative with a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Defining, scoping, and executing the full path to achieve objectives; determines appropriate strategy and project plan in the medium term (~<6 months).
  • Architecting novel metrics and analyses to shed light on success drivers; bringing metrics to production to share with a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting business development and the ability to do non-standard analyses on terabyte datasets.
  • Contributing to the Wayfair culture: role modeling continuous learning and coaching junior colleagues.

 

What You'll Need

  • A Bachelor’s degree from top-tier institution with a distinguished academic record, ideally in a quantitative field (math, economics, statistics, physics, engineering, etc.); MSc, MBA or PhD Preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience in an analytical and/or stakeholder-facing role, preferably with a pricing background
  • Management skills: you fluently translate business objectives into measurable key results and ~6 months project plans. You bring experience in leading cross-functional, multi-months projects and know how to establish project governance as well as progress reporting.
  • Communication skills: you communicate effectively with different levels of seniority, both written and verbally. You lay out thoughts and plans in well structured documents and co-develop them with your manager and stakeholders
  • Results focus: you have demonstrated the ability to deliver strong results and feel comfortable with sharing quick results early to improve over time. You collaborate effectively with other teams to achieve your goals and can influence other teams roadmaps as well as execute yourself.
  • Business acumen: you are familiar with financial statements and have experience with fundamental business metrics such as revenue, cost, profit, basket size, conversion, etc.
  • Strong quantitative skills: you have hands-on experience with manipulation and analysis of large data sets. Advanced Excel knowledge and proficient knowledge of one structured programming language (preferably TSQL and GBQ; Python, R) required. Ideally you also bring a distinct analytical skill that you can introduce to the team.
