Wayfair has one of Europe’s largest online selection of furniture, home furnishings, décor and goods including more than 1.8 million products from over 3,500 suppliers across all countries in Europe and is consistently increasing. With such an extensive network and its dynamic growth, our logistics team is ensuring a smooth, fast and reliable delivery service across multiple countries for a large variety of products. Currently, our logistics team is embarking on a strategic initiative to further grow, optimize and reinvent the network through more intelligent network routing, leverage of own infrastructure and staff, carrier selection and freight consolidation.

We are looking for a talented leader to manage strategy and executive engagement with our largest transportation partners.  You will be responsible for piloting and supporting a broad range of high customer impact operational improvement initiatives as well as long range strategic planning and vision setting within our transportation partnership(s). 

In addition, in this role, you will work closely with internal cross-functional partners including transportation operations, supply chain technology, and supplier operations. You will be a key strategy thought partner within the executive team to define, prioritize, and develop roadmaps with our transportation partners.

 

What You'll Do

  • Take ownership for facilitating the overall relationship, strategy and management for our largest transportation partner/s by defining, prioritizing, and setting long-range strategic vision that secures material improvement in our ability to achieve exceptional customer experience
  • Partner with key cross-functional senior leaders across supply chain technology, supplier operations, fulfillment operations, network management to create alignment in strategic approach and successfully realize your vision
  • Steer initiative roadmaps with both internal teams and external strategic partner/s
  • Apply core supply chain and operating fundamentals to drive continuous improvement through effective, data driven carrier management/ procurement
  • Build and leverage strong relationships across the transportation ecosystem (Operations, Technology, Analytics, Finance) and engage directly with senior leadership across functions
  • Invest in the building and development of our team, leveraging our strong culture of problem solving and core people principles

 

What You'll Need

  • Extensive  experience in a leadership position preferably (but not necessarily limited to) in online retail, supply chain operations, or transportation strategy, Masters degree encouraged but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross functional teams, including building functional groups and facilitating transformational change management
  • Demonstrated experience managing large scale, external strategic partnerships incl. negotiating large scale transportation contracts with freight carriers and 3PL providers 
  • Track record of leading and delivering multiple large and complex projects from inception to completion in a highly collaborative environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work well in a fast paced, highly collaborative company
  • An inclination to use data to answer questions, frame conversations, and drive impact/ behavior change
  • Willingness to travel to visit carriers in our European sourcing and delivery markets
  • Fluency in English; Additional language fluency a plus, but not required
