Wayfair’s Global Employment Practices Team is looking for a senior labor relations professional to join the team to help support the company’s efforts in the areas of proactive employee relations and organizing avoidance and  training, As an influential and integral member of the Global Employment Practices Team, you will be tasked with primary ownership and execution of the company’s strategy and proactive organizing avoidance programming in North America. Our team members are highly collaborative thought partners to our stakeholders, using both quantitative and qualitative data to drive business goals through our work. You will report directly to the Director & Head of Global Employment Practices.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute the strategic and tactical components of the company’s North American proactive engagement and organizing avoidance programs to help operational leaders foster a positive employee relations environment;
  • Provide guidance to leaders regarding employee relations issues and effectively respond to potential organizing vulnerability or activity;
  • Advise and coach managers in building effective employee engagement practices, issue resolution, and proactive intervention in locations where data analysis indicates engagement opportunities;
  • Ongoing research and monitoring of general labor relations trends and associated legal developments and rulings with potential impact to the company; 
  • Provide in-depth / data-driven analysis and reporting on all of the above activities.
  • Manage a team of professionals dedicated to supporting regional stakeholders / partners and driving Wayfair’s proactive employee engagement philosophy.
  • Contribute to efforts of other Employment Practices teams as may become necessary.

What You’ll Need 

  • Experience implementing and executing proactive employee relations and organizing avoidance programs in non-union settings;
  • Experience in leading employer responses to organizing activity and campaigns;
  • Experience working with organized workforces;
  • Experience with contract negotiations and administration of collective bargaining agreements;
  • Experience leading small to medium sized teams.
  • Ability to influence business leaders and key stakeholders;
  • Ability to build productive relationships and partner / collaborate / build connections with stakeholders, partners, and employees at all levels;
  • Ability to travel up to 30%-40% of the time or as needed;
  • Comfortable adapting to change and building out a team / program in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Highly preferred - J.D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar;
  • 8-10 years of experience practicing labor and employment law;
  • Experience working in an in-house labor and employment law role; and
  • Experience working in the technology, retail, and/or e-commerce industries.
