Wayfair is looking for an experienced / principal-level product manager to own our customer identity & data platforms. These platforms are critical to our customer experience, serving 200M requests per day. They are globally distributed, moving to an auto-scaling cloud infrastructure, and easily extensible. You’ll lead your cross-functional team to reach world-class quality SLOs, while extending platform capabilities to power next-gen marketing, personalization, fraud prevention, and customer lifecycle management. You’ll also establish approaches for data ownership / stewardship over our customer PII and help shape the vision for data privacy for a global $14B F500 company. Most importantly, you’ll have fun - Wayfairians and in particular the people you’d work with are collaborative, dedicated, and challenge you to grow every day.

This is a hands-on role for those who love the craft of product more than team leadership. Wayfair has an individual contributor career path that goes up to the Director level and is fully invested in the careers of product leaders who don’t want to manage.

What You’d Do:

  • Lead product discovery, strategy, and roadmap for customer identity & data platforms, leveraging your knowledge of the discovery framework & toolkit
  • Lead the organization to see what’s possible leveraging your customer platforms, and build what’s necessary to realize this vision (partnering in particular with Martech & Data Products, Marketing, Checkout, Personalization, Data Privacy, Security)
  • Help develop & evangelize Wayfair’s stance on data protection - we’re early in this journey, so you’ll help shape our vision & show the organization how privacy supports our path toward becoming the destination for all things home
  • Communicate regularly with leadership, translating both technical and domain specific adtech language into communications for broad audiences
  • Lead complex initiatives that span multiple product & business domains, ensuring coordination & full understanding to achieve the right outcome for Wayfair

What You Need:

  • 7+ years experience in software product management, with a focus on data-driven product discovery & user empathy. Experience leading cross-org product initiatives.
  • You’ve managed platforms and know how to identify the generalized capabilities that meet clients’ needs (engineers, PMs, business stakeholders) and develop (and evangelize) a vision & roadmap for what the platform can become.
  • You effectively partner with your engineers to shape the architecture and are able to keep up in highly technical conversations
  • You logically structure problems, develop clear hypotheses, and rigorously iterate toward solutions that solve the highest-impact problems, bringing others along
  • You’ve worked with and led / influenced a wide range of cross-functional teams and leaders, including influencing to bring structure & rigor to decisions & prioritization
  • Others have noted your good writing skills and knack for tailoring communication to the audience - simplifying or going into detail as necessary, with clarity & precision
