Wayfair is looking for a senior product leader to join our industry-leading recommendations platform and content personalization engine that aims to maximize Customer Lifetime Value using the wealth of data we have about our customers and their preferences.  Wayfair’s Recommendations team provides the core platforms and services that allow our customers to discover and buy the products they love by serving the right content to every customer on every touchpoint. Our systems leverage Wayfair’s extensive customer and product data to deliver trusted and valuable recommendations and results in real time using custom machine learning models. Our mission-critical services are called over a billion times a day.  Recommendations is a core competency for Wayfair and a high priority lever we’re using to drive outsized growth, customer value, and profitability.

In this role, you will take ownership of a significant roadmap, drive our core content recommendations capabilities and platform, and generate significant business outcomes. You will seek to deliver valuable and trusted product recommendations to customers at every touchpoint and stage in their journey through a set of services that are central to Wayfair’s ecommerce experience and business. This role presents significant technical, analytical, and leadership opportunities with enormous potential for business impact. Successful candidates will be entrepreneurial and creative problem solvers who are able to lead and grow high-performing cross functional projects that bring them to reality. You will also be able to dive deep into the technical details of their platform while simultaneously defining and communicating front-line vision as a key leader within our organization.

What You'll Do

  • Work with a true cross functional team of engineers, data scientists, and analysts to build, test, and deploy state of the art ML models using a large and growing dataset of customer data.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Wayfair to identify opportunities and deliver meaningful outcomes.
  • Build and own an extensive product roadmap. Manage products across the full product development lifecycle.
  • Identify, develop, and deliver core product recommendation capabilities.
  • Be the primary product manager for one or more engineering teams.
  • Foster and informally lead a true cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists, and analysts.
  • Leverage data to understand risks, impacts, scope and priorities of our business objectives, and enable the team to drive results 
  • Set product objectives and key results.

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of product experience with a history of delivering successful products across the full product lifecycle.
  • Experience building, prioritizing and communicating a roadmap and product backlog.
  • Experience working in an agile engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with ML and experience working with data scientists.
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience with hypothesis-driven problem solving and turning data into actionable insights.
  • Experience using data to guide decision-making and to validate changes.
  • Proven ability to make data driven decisions and a familiarity with A/B testing.
  • Proven ability to manage and communicate to a diverse set of stakeholders. You will need to manage competing priorities and requests. You will need to be able to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences and have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A history of owning, developing, and communicating long-term vision and goals that drive strategies for a portfolio of products
  • Working in a culture of experimentation, learning, and innovation in order to solve user needs within the domain
  • A track record of building high-impact products demonstrating measurable business impact
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for action and ability to deal with extreme ambiguity and rapidly changing environments.
  • Experience in ecommerce or with recommender systems is a plus.
