Who We Are

The Category Management - EU Kitchen and Small Electrics team has full ownership of key supplier relationships and is directly responsible for driving the category's top and bottom line. Our team is expected to define overarching goals and strategy for the category, to problem-solve, articulate and execute against tactical plans, manage key business metrics and increase the selection of cookware sets, toasters and many other kitchen products. In this Assistant Category Manager role, you will work with external partners - our suppliers are key brands in the kitchen and small electrics market - and internal cross-functional teams to advance your category’s business agenda and drive strategic business decisions. Assistant Category Managers have ownership of key supplier relationships and make a direct impact on the category and Wayfair’s bottom line. You will be expected to proactively define overarching goals and strategy for your suppliers, independently problem-solve, articulate and execute against tactical plans, and manage key business metrics.

 

What You'll Do

  • Build strong relationships with existing branded suppliers and execute negotiations to secure best pricing and promotional opportunities
  • Analyze data to strategize profit growth opportunities for the category and for your supplier base
  • Advance catalog expansion: identify selection gaps and prioritize new product assortment based on an in depth market understanding
  • Identify sales, merchandising, and operational opportunities for your supplier base and the category and collaborate with internal teams to drive change (Promotions, PR, Pricing, Competitive Intelligence, Merchandising, Operations)
  • Develop a deep market understanding of your category by analyzing main competitors, suppliers and customer behavior in Germany and in the UK
  • Attend main trade shows and conduct supplier visits (4-8 times per year) in Germany and in the UK

 

What You'll Need

  • Undergraduate degree in business studies or a related field; additional qualifications are advantageous
  • Fluency in German and English with articulate and persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Previous experience working within an account management, business development, consulting or analytical business role
  • A track record of successful negotiation and relationship management with internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Analytical mindset and data-driven approach; demonstrated experience working with data to develop recommendations
  • Relentless problem-solver approach with the demonstrated ability to dissect and determine root causes of problems and implement solutions
  • A personable, proactive and passionate contributor, eager to progress professionally and motivated to independently drive business growth
  • A proven ability to thrive as part of a team and also to work autonomously
