CastleGate Logistics, Inc. is a digital freight forwarding organization within Wayfair’s International Supply Chain group. We offer a full suite of services (Asia consolidation, ocean freight, drayage, customs brokerage, cargo insurance, etc.) that aims to provide our suppliers with competitive and convenient logistics solutions. 

CastleGate Trade Services LLC within CastleGate Logistics, is looking for a proactive and ambitious candidate to join the customs brokerage business as an entry level associate customs entry writer.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Learn the processes, documentation, and terminology involved in international shipping and customs brokerage
  • Develop an understanding of US Customs & Border Protection and Partner Government Agency requirements
  • Request and review import documentation to accurately input data to allow for a timely customs release
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate clearly, timely and effectively with clients, carriers, agents, forwarders, etc.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate client billing
  • Promote a positive working relationship with all internal and external team members
  • Perform audits of ISF filings, customs entries and internal CastleGate Trade Services’ procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

 

This is a great opportunity for someone who is new to the industry but has a desire to learn more about international trade and customs brokerage and is looking to join and make an immediate impact on a small, driven and innovative team.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of customs entry writing or import experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of US regulatory concepts such Harmonized Schedule (HS) classification, valuation, country of origin, etc. preferred
  • Detailed oriented and organized
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and G-Suite applications
  • Interest in taking the customs broker exam or additional industry training and/or certifications related to customs brokerage expertise. 
  • Able to work well independently and as a team member
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Experience using SQL or other database management systems is a plus
