CastleGate Forwarding (GGF) is intent on developing a strong customs capability by partnering with licensed third-party brokers to be able to provide attractive bundled products to its suppliers with value propositions that could impact the overall service levels of our forwarding arm.

Operations Manager - Customs
The role of the NA Operations Manager - Customs will be responsible for sourcing third party licensed customs brokers (in close collaboration with the procurement teams) and drive the strategy and execution of existing and new customs-related initiatives that bring compliance, scale and long-term savings to CastleGate Forwarding (CGF).
● Identify, evaluate and negotiate with 3rd party customs broker and onboard them to become approved service providers.
● Manage to excellence existing customs brokers through continuous improvements, KPI monitoring, tech integration oversight, SLA and Quarterly Business reviews, etc.
● Oversee existing customs-related activities including duty drawback, self-filing program, CBP requests, etc.
● Roadmap and implement new customs initiatives that drive compliance, savings or scale for CGF and Wayfair.
● Act as SME and escalation point of contact for all CA-US customs-related operational exceptions that affect CGF. Problem solve issues to facilitate timely customs clearance and final delivery.
● Identify transactions and tasks that require special handling and recommend improved processes to management and help drive corrective actions
● Oversee a small team of customs associates
● Stay abreast of regulatory changes and attends customs seminars as necessary


KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The following skills will be beneficial to a candidate looking to apply for this role:
● A strong knowledge and experience with US and CA Customs and Import-Export regulations including classification, valuation, duty drawback, Section 321, Partner Government Agency requirements such as FDA, EPA, FWL, CTPAT/PIP, etc.
● A proven previous experience in a trade compliance/customs group within a
multinational is preferred

● Customs broker license highly preferred
● Ocean Import knowledge strongly preferred
● Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
● Proficiency with SQL a plus
