The Merchandising organization at Wayfair includes the Merchandising Platform and the Product Content & Data Architecture team. Our mission is to create the market-leading product catalog for home goods across each of our stores, brands and geographies. The Director, Merchandising Platform oversees the operations that grow our selection by identifying gaps in the assortment of the supplier base, processing product content submitted by suppliers to create high-quality listings for customers and continuously enriching that content to drive better and better customer engagement and outcomes. This is a core role in driving Wayfair’s growth across a global supplier ecosystem and involves a large Boston-based team, managing large, Global offshore operations and continuously partnering with Technology teams to improve our capabilities at scale.

The right candidate will have experience working cross functionally to improve complex operations through a combination of process and technology. They will have experience leading a large team, with a strong focus on results and stewardship of large OPEX. They will also have extensive experience engaging with senior executive leadership to steer long-term plans for a core agenda.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key member of the Merch department leadership team, ensuring tight collaboration across teams on topics like listing optimization, catalog management speed, efficiency and quality and global catalog scale
  • Drive selection growth from our global supplier base
  • Lead Wayfair-wide cross-functional initiatives to improve supplier experience and catalog management capabilities, while maintaining or improving customer experience
  • Optimize internal processes and technology to enable fast and efficient workflows for internal users supporting the global supplier base
  • Measure and continuously improve supplier satisfaction and support
  • Develop processes to internally enrich out highest value product listings 

 What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years of work experience, ideally with a background in top-tier management consulting and a focus in e-commerce
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution with a strong academic record; focus in Economics, Business Administration, or related field a plus
  • MBA preferred
  • Passion for customer and supplier experience
  • Ability to build and lead a large, diverse team; can predict and preempt challenges 
  • Strong communication skills – ability to summarize and share results with executives, and influence cross-functional roadmaps
  • Strong quantitative skills – ability to develop analytical methodologies and assumptions, conduct analyses, and synthesize findings
  • Strong business acumen – ability to understand how various parts of the business interact, and can identify and approach problems from a customer perspective
  • Ability to learn and act quickly, make decisions and draw conclusions in the face of ambiguity
  • Intellectually curious, high energy, with a strong work ethic and a desire to work in a fast-paced, high stakes team environment
