Director of Product Management, Global Head of Native App Experiences (Boston or San Francisco Bay area location)

 

Wayfair is looking for an experienced Product Leader to own the vision, strategy and implementation of Wayfair’s native iOS and Android apps across all of our retail brands (Wayfair, Perigold, AllModern, Joss & Main, Birch Lane) and geographies (currently US, UK, Canada and Germany, growing to 15+ over the next few years). Generating roughly one third of our revenue today with endless growth in sight, our Apps play a crucial role in Wayfair’s overall strategy to more deeply engage our existing base of 30M+ active customers, and create the world’s best mobile-forward ecommerce experience. 

 

Our App vision includes both nailing core commerce fundamentals while also using emerging capabilities including AR, Computer Vision and livestream formats to help build confidence, inspiration and joy. Our Apps will also be a critical component of our omnichannel experiences that cut across digital commerce and physical retail, offering new ways to shop and experience all that Wayfair has to offer. We need a world-class Product Leader to champion the platform, customer experience, and team behind this critical platform for Wayfair’s continued growth. 

 

What you will do in this role:

      • Craft, own, and deliver a world-class App experience that our customers will love, and that will work for the business
      • Focus the broad App cross-functional team on outcomes, while you lead the group to move quickly in developing solutions to real customer problems

      • Lead a team of App product managers, establishing and fostering a team culture based in the Learning Zone
      • Collaborate effectively with senior partners, stakeholders, and executives to ensure cross-Wayfair alignment and support for the App strategy and vision

This role gives you the opportunity to be at the forefront of much of our customer experience innovation. Our App experiences will be the first to lean into new forms of media (e.g. video) as a means to enable new ways of shopping and inspiration for our customers.

 

What you’ll need

  • 10+ years’ Product Management experience, with preference for candidates with a track record creating world-class consumer App experiences at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead Product team and team cultures that make customers happier in ways that help the business succeed, and cultivate high levels of ownership, trust and morale.
  • Track record weaving together a variety of inputs (eg business strategy, behavioral data, qualitative research, product sense/instincts) into coherent product vision, which you then convert into results through product discovery and delivery.
  • Intellectual curiosity about what makes customers feel and act they way they do, what’s interesting across the consumer web / ecomm / mobile landscape at any given time, how the underlying native App tech layers are evolving (and how that might create new possibilities for us) etc.
  • Superior communication skills with demonstrated ability to navigate a complex organization, rally people around an exciting vision, and generate buy-in for ideas and plans.
  • Strong technical background, preferably in App development (non-engineering) and exposure to App platform nuance (iOS and Android).
  • Ability to partner closely with Engineering, Experience Design and Analytics partners.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for action.
