Job Description

Engineer II, MarTech, Advertising Engineering

The Advertising Engineering team build, manage and sell media placements on Wayfair.com, including traditional display and sponsored product listings, while also powering off site reach via co-marketing audience extension, catalog, and other programs. Our team is also responsible for partnering with non-suppliers for onsite sponsorships and managing the relationship with indirect partners, such as Google AdSense.

In order for our internal teams to leverage this technology effectively and excel in an increasingly competitive marketing landscape, our full stack Engineering team builds best-in-class user experiences that helps our suppliers sell more products on Wayfair properties and advertise their products off site through co-marketing and tailored integrations across core Wayfair platforms that no other solution can provide. We enable non-suppliers to reach and connect with the Wayfair audience. We take a full funnel approach to providing our advertising partners with solutions that help them stand out and amplify their message.

What You'll Do

  • Produce high quality, enterprise grade experiences to delight users
  • Use java/php to design API to consume/produce data and build backend applications to power wayfair media platforms. 
  • Use Javascript/React to design and build frontend applications leveraged by a wide variety of stakeholders across Wayfair
  • Use kafka/hadoop hive/aerospike for building a big data pipeline as a backbone for the entire media team. 
  • Provide superior monitoring visibility to technical and operational health of the platform using DataDog/Grafana
  • Hone your technical leadership skills as you help grow engineers on your team to develop the next generation of Wayfair engineering
  • Provide high quality reviews, for both code and technical designs
  • Use ecommerce business knowledge to convert the product requirements into a technical solution.

What You'll Need

  • Extensive experience as a full stack engineer.
  • Mastery in backend development using Java/php.
  • Mastery of some flavor of modern frontend frameworks and technologies like React, Redux, etc
  • Experience in Big Data technologies/frameworks like Apache Kafka/Apache spark/Nosql databases
  • Preferred experience in the CI/CD tools/platforms like Buildkite/Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Experience in system monitoring using tools like Grafana/DataDog etc.
  • Experience in development and technical design of frontend applications from start to finish
  • Understanding of functional programming and javascript best practices
  • Experience and deep understanding of atomic design (reusable components)
  • B.S. or equivalent experience in computer science/related field
