Engineering Manager

Wayfair is looking for an Engineering Manager to organize and drive initiatives that support our Supplier Engineering team. Our team is now building cutting-edge applications and self-service tools which will aid Wayfair sellers in every step of the e-commerce journey. From onboarding to creating and updating their product catalog, to improving the merchandising and pricing of individual products - we will be offering guidance and recommending world-class solutions at every step. We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager for our Supplier Technology team! Supplier Tech is on the forefront of innovation at Wayfair and within the e-commerce space! The Supplier Engineering team has been tasked with spearheading the next set of major growth for Wayfair as we strive towards our goal of growing from a $15B company to a $100B company. With this comes the opportunity for you to work on and lead high-visibility projects that have an extremely high impact on Wayfair. Furthermore, you will be green fielding the way we’re going to build applications for our sellers going forward. Our focus is continuously innovating and improving to offer a Best in Class experience.

As an Engineering Manager you’ll have a multitude of opportunities to flex your strengths as well as learn new things while directly assisting our internal customers. We contribute to (and create) bleeding edge open-source projects and continuously push the envelope to explore the future of eCommerce and distributed infrastructure systems. The team focuses on moving workloads into the cloud and designing and deploying the framework that our public cloud platforms are built upon.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage level 3 support (a team of SWEs) of Global Supplier Technology. You will define, implement, and optimize adequate processes in addition to scaling the team for global responsiveness.
  • Build a system observability team to ensure adequate cataloging, monitoring, and alerting of Global Supplier Technology tools and services.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in a senior engineer or technical lead role
  • 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
  • Track record of building engineering teams
  • Expertise in system design of Web applications at scale, including its instrumentation, monitoring, and alerting aspects
  • Proficiency in a general-purpose programming language
  • Experience in data-driven process optimization
  • Expertise in problem management a plus

The salary range (or base pay for hourly positions) for this position is $172,500- $207,000 however, base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
